Monte Carlo

The day we docked at Monte Carlo, the Le Mans race was just getting under way. It is the world's oldest sports car race and has been held annually since 1923.  It runs a circuit of closed off public roads (see the left photo) that essentially closed the city to sightseeing the day we were there.  The race was underway. As such, we visited the city of Nice and its open are market, and the village of Eze which is built on a mountaintop. Both towns were, as you can see, very picturesque... and led to a few bad jokes with the punch line:  "Nice and easy...."
